Schools play an important role to support children and young people and to identify where problems arise that may put their safety, welfare or wellbeing at risk. Schools provide a protective and caring environment that ensures student safety, welfare and wellbeing.
All employees participate in annual child protection training and adhere to mandatory procedures for conveying risk of harm concerns.
All volunteers working with our students are to:
- complete an onsite induction program before Helping out at school;
- complete a Declaration for Volunteers (pdf 98 KB) (mandatory) or a Working with Children Check (optional);
- provide 100 points of identification for further checking with DoE databases; and
- work in accordance with our Code of Conduct.
Our students participate in stage appropriate teaching and learning programs aimed to assist them develop skills in recognising and responding to unsafe situations, seeking assistance effectively, establishing and maintaining relationships and strengthening attitudes and values related to equality, respect and responsibility.
